IN THIS ELECTION YEAR, HERE ARE 6 IMPORTANT  QUESTIONS TO ASK THE CANDIDATES . . .

1. 8.6 million children have no health insurance in the U.S.   How do you propose to ensure that children grow up healthy and have access to comprehensive health care?

2. More than 3 million children nationwide were reported abused and neglected in 2006.  What are your plans to keep all children safe from violence in their homes, schools, and communities?

3. Millions of children are left alone every day after school.  What is your position on how to keep children safe and supervised in the late afternoon and early evening hours?

4. Millions of children lack access to early learning opportunities.  What is your position on early learning and care, including preparing children for kindergarten?

5. 13.6 million of America's children live in poverty.   What would you do to help families with children become economically self-sufficient and able to prvode for their family's needs?

6. Millions of children have a parent in prison.   How would you address the needs of these children?

Being a Child Advocate is one of the highest callings you can have.

It shows a child that someone cares for them. It forever alters the scope and direction of a young life. It brings you fulfillment in the knowledge that you can keep a child from  the harm that can be brought on from too much “bouncing around” in the system.

You Just Have to Care

Children who don't currently have the support of their parents need someone else to look out for their needs. Once they are in the state-run foster-care system, they can begin to feel tossed about and disconnedted. Months of uncertainty place stress upon their young lives. They worry about their parents. They worry about their siblings. They worry about their future. Since they often don't have the support of a family, they need champions. These champions are called Child Advocates.
